Alert:
If you see a hispanic male wearing an orange hard hat and orange vest operating from a plain white van (no business decaling) with ladders on top, please dial 9-1-1 immediately. This male is wanted for investigation regarding several residential burglaries.
Warning:
If you see door to door salespersons peddling electric suppliers, please notify police by dialing 9-1-1. These door to door solicitations are not permitted.
Alert:
People delivering door to door circulars for a pizza shop have been reported to be seen trying door knobs in a neighboring district. When you see anyone delivering door to door flyers, please pay attention. If you see them trying a house or car door or looking into windows, please dial 9-1-1 immediately.
Warning:
Metal scrappers are often out and about in our community. Unfortunately, these scrappers often steal items such as bbq grills. If you see one of these scrappers in your community, please dial 9-1-1. The police would like to investigate these scrappers but cannot be everywhere at once. They depend on you to be their eyes and ears.

People posing as Philadelphia Water Department employees, including wearing of an identification badge and uniform, have gained access to several residences throughout the District. These imposters generally operate in pairs. One will lure the homeowner down to the basement where the water meter is while the second will search the home for valuables. All of the victims in these crimes have been over 80 years of age. Should someone claiming to be a Water Department employee show up at your door, make sure you see an official Department vehicle parked outside. If you have any doubts as to the authenticity of these persons, dial 9-1-1 immediately.
There have been reports of males posing as surveyors carrying clipboards casing residential areas. If you see someone around your home who you believe does not belong, dial 9-1-1.
DO NOT OPEN YOUR DOOR IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHO IS KNOCKING. IF YOU SEE SOMEONE WHO YOU FEEL APPEARS SUSPICIOUS DIAL 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY. TRUST YOUR INSTINCT AND BE SAFE!
Thefts from vehicles continue to be a problem throughout the District. The number one target is GPS units. Do not leave your GPS unit in your vehicle. Do not leave any power cords visible as this is a clue that you may have a GPS unit, iPod or other device of value in the vehicle. If you attach your GPS unit to your windshield, be sure to wipe the circular ring off the windshield after removing the GPS unit. Follow our other crime prevention tips to minimize your risk of victimization. Any suspicious activity should be reported to the police promptly by dialing 9-1-1.
